Senator Jeanne Shaheen toured Pike’s Lebanon Crushed Stone facility on July 20th. On a crystal clear day, the senator got a very good view of the extent of development in the Upper Valley and the local market that we serve. While driving to the quarry the senator got to see Pike’s Interstate 89 project and she also drove right through the bridge replacement project at Exit 20. It was a perfect opportunity to thank the Senator for her vote in support of MAP-21, the Senate’s highway bill which was signed into law by President Obama on July 6, 2012. MAP-21 funds surface transportation programs at over $105 billion for fiscal years (FY) 2013 and 2014. MAP-21 is the first long-term highway authorization enacted since 2005. Following the visit, Senator Shaheen granted interviews to local newspapers and a television station stressing the importance of our nation’s highway system as it relates to a strong economy and good jobs.
